NAMI Baltimore Walk Event for Mental Health

A neighbor from Stoneleigh shared with me a great charity event coming up May 18th. See below and the link to the flier:

Dear Rodgers Forge Board Members,
Greetings! My name is Blake Davis and I live in your neighboring community of Stoneleigh. I am writing to you today to tell you about a really amazing event that NAMI Baltimore is putting on down at the inner harbor on May 18th. We are doing a walk to raise money and awareness for mental illnesses and mental health research. Being a tight knit community just as all the other neighborhoods in the area, we all undoubtedly know of someone who is struggling from a mental illness. I thought I would reach out to you to see if anyone would be interested in forming a walk team to help us raise money and awareness this coming May. Last year we had about 3 thousand people show up and it was a lot of fun! I have attached a pamphlet that can shed a little more light as to what this event is all about. Please feel free to contact me or Claire (contact info on the pamphlet) with any questions or feedback. Look forward to hearing from you!
Your neighbor,

Blake Davis

Tree Rodgers Forge—Keeping our Community Green

Tree Rodgers Forge is a resident-run community organization that is working hard to plant FREE trees in our neighborhood.  The organization’s primary mission is to preserve the tree canopy that is so vital to maintaining our neighborhood’s beauty and quality of life.

With numerous trees in the area reaching the end of their life cycle, it is important that we do our part to maintain our community’s clean air and picturesque streets.  As such, Tree Rodgers Forge is teaming up with Blue Water Baltimore (BWB) to make it easy for neighbors to plant the free trees provided by BWB in the shared county easement areas (where they exist) in the front of properties.

Tree Rodgers Forge needs your help to maintain the healthy and attractive neighborhood that Rodgers Forge residents love.  Simply having a tree planted in your yard can increase property value, cool home temperatures in the summer, reduce street noise, clean the air, and filter and absorb rainwater runoff.  In addition to helping you save on your electric bill, these benefits contribute to the overall health of our community, local streams and the Chesapeake Bay.

If you would like to help Tree Rodgers Forge preserve the tree canopy of the neighborhood you know and love, just click the link below and fill out the one-page application and reserve a free sapling to be planted for you this Spring.  Please act ASAP as applications are due by Saturday, April 6th.  Hard copy applications can be dropped off to 228 Overbrook Road or an electronic copy can be emailed to RPCosgrove@gmail.com .  Thank you for your help in preserving the beauty and health of Rodgers Forge!
