Tigerfest Weekend Coming

Special Notice for Rodgers Forge:

Below are details of the upcoming “Tigerfest” weekend for Towson University. Rodgers Forge is not slatted as one of the neighborhoods designated as a special patrol area by the BCPD. However, since we do back up to Towson University the Citizens on Patrol is asking everyone in the community to be aware of activities during the weekend of April 27-29 in case some Towson students feel the need to participate in activities not acceptable during this weekend in our neighborhood. If you see anything suspicious please do not hesitate to call 911 and report the issue. We have been very fortunate over the past couple of years with a major reduction in crime due mostly to you our neighbors keeping a watch out and making that important call when needed. We have random patrols out as often as possible but unfortunately cannot cover all areas as well and as often as we would like. YOU are the backbone to making our neighborhood what it is today. Thanking you in advance for your assistance and help!!

Patrols Increased in Towson Neighborhoods for Tigerfest Weekend

Student and Resident Safety a Priority

Baltimore County, Md. (April 19, 2012) - The Baltimore County Police Department will be partnering with Towson University during Tigerfest weekend, April 27-29. Baltimore County Police will be assisting with any neighborhood problems connected to Tigerfest.

Beginning on April 27 at 11 a.m. and continuing throughout the weekend, special enforcement patrols will be visible in the Donnybrook, Knollwood, Towson Manor and Kenilworth Avenue communities to address any negative impact of Tigerfest on residential neighborhoods.

Officers will be patrolling those neighborhoods to address any disorderly, violent, and illegal behavior, such as:

  • Assaults
  • Loud noise or music
  • Disorderly conduct
  • Setting fires
  • Sexual assaults
  • Indecent exposure/urinating in public
  • Destruction of property
  • Alcohol violations, such as underage possession or open container violations
  • Possession of illegal drugs

Last year, 42 people were charged with civil or criminal offenses during the neighborhood patrols. Most of the charges involved alcohol-related offenses, such as underage possession of alcoholic beverages, possession of false identification, and open containers.

Baltimore County Police would like to remind everyone to drink responsibly, make good choices regarding personal safety, and to respect neighbors who may not be participating in the festivities.

RFCA Proposes Minor By-Law Changes

The changes address substituting the required annual audit for our account with a more affordable and reasonable review. This is generally what is done by other regional community associations and is adequate for the size of our operating budget and needs.

You can review the proposed changes by clicking here.

Prescription Medicine Disposal

Looking to dispose of expired or unwanted prescription medications? On Saturday, April 28, the Baltimore County Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will collect these medications (prescription only) from residents. Participants do not need to be from Baltimore County, and identification will not be checked. The DEA National Take Back Initiative is an effort by law enforcement to get unused, and in some cases, dangerous drugs out of homes and disposed of in a safe and secure manner.
Baltimore County police officers and DEA agents will be at drop-off locations from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Illicit drugs or syringes will not be accepted as these items can pose a health hazard to those collecting the medications.
For a list of drop-off locations and further details, please visit the County web site:

RFCOP Crime Update Week of April 2nd - 15th

Here's the last 2 reports, sorry for the delay but I've been busy settling in to life as a new parent as my wife and I had our first child born last Thursday! -Del

Alerts from our Neighborhood:

Community Crime Alert - 6 April 2012

Please keep an eye out for several young boys on bikes, some walking with them, who are cruising the alleys looking in yards. They started checking out our neighborhood toward the end of last summer and are back! Typically, they are in the area during the day and after school hours as well in the evening and have been seen all over the community. They are NOT from our community and have been seen making off with bikes that aren't theirs. Please call police if you see them!

Also, there has been a Caucasian man driving a Grey or Silver pickup picking up scrap. He has been seen entering yards as well. If you see someone that fits this description, please obtain as much info as you can (better description of the truck and a tag number if possible) and call police!

Please, let’s all do our part in making criminals aware that crime is not welcome in the Forge!

Police say teenage cyclist hit a car

Rod - A scary accident for a 14-year-old boy, who Baltimore County police say was crossing York Rd. in Rodgers Forge on his bike when he ran into a car. He was taken to Johns Hopkins Pediatric with non life-threatening injuries.

The boy was with a friend, who was not injured. Ginger Parsons comforted the boy before paramedics arrived.

"I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the parts going up in the air," Parsons said. "He was saying my legs, my legs, it's my legs. And then he has cement burns on his elbow," she said.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene and called 911.

Summer is here, the kids will be out of school soon:

The above article is also a reminder to all parents and children. Sit down and discuss safety and prevention with your children of safe bike riding, traffic rules, being safe from strangers, etc. It is difficult with two working parents, but necessary for the safety of our children!! Let us all have a safe and great summer this year!!

Update on Charles St. Construction by 695

From Councilman Marks:

"I've had some inquiries about the status of the Charles Street improvement project in northern Towson. It looks like the entire project will be finished by the end of summer, although the State Highway Administration will be focusing very soon on opening up some of the ramps and completing traffic signalization.
