RFCOP Stats for 1^st degree Burglaries in 2009, 2010, 2011:

2011 has been relatively quiet in Rodgers Forge with only 4 burglaries which are consistent with 2010 and 2009. By the end of June all 3 years we have a total of 4 1^st degree burglaries. In 2009 we ended the year with a total of 19, and 2010 a total of 11. Our goal is to continue the decrease in 2011.

Our patrollers have been out regularly on different days –all hours of the day, evening and night. Our communication within the community is growing stronger as time passes. More of you have been turning your “Lights On, Locking Up, and Looking out” which makes a difference in our statistics. The Citizens on Patrol can only do so much, but with your help our community is becoming safer each year. We are fairing much better than most of our neighboring communities.

We want to thank each and every one of you for your help in keeping the Forge a safe and wonderful place to live in. We also would like to extend a special thanks to Mike Calwell, the head of the Crime Prevention and Safety Committee for the many meetings he has attended and hours he has spent volunteering for our community in all areas of crime and safety. A very special thanks goes out to our patrollers for giving of their personal time they have spent with their drinks, snacks and cell phones – by walking, biking or car being the ears and eyes of the Forge.

BCPD Officer to be Honored For Work in the Forge

Please join the Baltimore County Police Community Relations Council (PCRC) in honoring Ofc. Heyman as the Officer of the Year for 2010. About 12 months ago, Ofc Heyman responded to a suspicious subject seen in a neighbor’s yard on Blenhiem Road. The suspect was no longer around when he responded. Ofc. Heyman spent some additional time in the area and noticed a vehicle that did not appear to fit into the area. Upon further investigation, he found the vehicle belonged to an individual in Baltimore City. Ofc. Heyman sat on the vehicle and identified the suspect at 3:30am in the morning. He was apprehended. This suspect was also responsible for several cat burglaries in Rodgers Forge.

Cake and Ice Cream will be served. Several Baltimore County Elected Officials have also been invited to attend. Please come by to that Ofc. Heyman for making Rodgers Forge a little safer.

Attention Runners, Help a Neighbor for Charity

Hello friends and neighbors - I am recruiting runners & walkers to join Team CASA, a charity team that's participating in the Under Armour Baltimore Running Festival in October 2011. We will be running/walking in any of the races (5k, half-marathon, full marathon and team relay) to raise awareness and funds to support CASA, a nonprofit organization that advocates for victims of child abuse and neglect.

We need a minimum of 100 runners registered by June 30th to be accepted as a charity team and we're at 35 today, with less than 10 days until the deadline. I would greatly appreciate it if you would forward this email to all of your contacts, co-workers, Facebook friends, etc. and ask them to forward to all of their friends, etc. I have also attached a flier if you have a place at work or elsewhere to post it.

Reminder: Nominations for RFC Board Members Due July 14th

Election of the next Rodgers Forge Community, Inc. Board of Governors will take place on September 14^th,.

In order to be eligible for consideration the following criteria has to be met: Reside in the geographic area of Rodgers Forge (see page 111 in The Rodgers Forge Directory), be 21 years of age and live in a household for which the dues are current and paid.

New candidates for a Board Member position must indicate their interest by letter and submit the same so as to be RECEIVED JULY 14th. Notification of interest (and a suggested brief resume) should be sent to RFC., Inc. c/o 201 Dumbarton Road, Baltimore, MD 21212, attn: 2011 RFC., Inc. Nominating Committee. Include willingness to serve the two year term and contact information (address, phone number and email address). THE CUT-OFF DATE OF JULY 14^th WILL BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED THIS YEAR—NO EXCEPTIONS.

Once, you have submitted your request for Board Member consideration, you will be contacted. If any of the criteria has not been met, you will be notified at that time and given the opportunity to promptly meet the criteria. In addition, the board just passed participation requirements. They are: Serve on at least 1 committee, attend a minimum of 7 meetings per year and supports the RFC., Inc.’s Mission Statement (found on page 5 of the Rodgers Forge Directory) and Conduct of Board Members Statement (found below). You will be asked to commit to the participation requirements.

Finally, once you have qualified you will be asked if you want to publish a brief statement on your beliefs and qualifications in the Newsletter and/or website (August newsletter). The committee is not obligated to make this public in the event the committee is not made aware of it in the timely manner. The JULY 14^th cut-off date, helps to ensure meeting the newsletter deadline.

While the Annual Meeting is months away, now is the time to consider volunteering.

REMEMBER: CUT-OFF DATE FOR CONSIDERATION IS JULY 14^th-NO EXCEPTIONS and NO NOMINATIONS FROM THE FLOOR.

Dues News/Crate of Spirits Raffle!!

Dues News:

So far 709 Rodgers Forge residents have paid their dues for this year. As a token of appreciation for those residents who have taken the time to pay, the RFC, Inc. has done two drawings in the past for thank-you gifts. The last drawing was on June 2, 2011 when Katie Searles drew the name of the Mason Family who won a picnic basket. In addition to this drawing, three other drawings occurred at that time because of items that were originally donated to the community for the picnic’s Silent Auction cannot be used due to Baltimore County Public School’s policy regarding “games of chances”. Radebaugh’s Florist and Baltimore Coffee & Tea Company gave us permission to use the items for membership drawings instead. A BIG thanks to Radebaugh’s Florist and Baltimore Coffee & Tea Company!!! Ken Searles joined his sister in pulling out the other winners and they are: The Ishida/Harding Family won the geranium hanging basket from Radebaugh’s Florist and the Mitchell and Desi Families each won 5 coupons for a drink from Baltimore Coffee & Tea Company. Congratulations! I do not want to leave out Wells Discount Liquors because they donated a Crate of Spirits and we decided to have a raffle for the crate. See below article. Crate of Spirits of Raffle

Wells Discount Liquors has donated a Crate of Spirits (value of at least $75.00) to the Rodgers Forge Community, Inc. which will be raffled off. The spirits are full-sized bottles of vodka, whiskey, gin, Bailey’s Irish Cream and Malibu rum. The winning ticket will be drawn on August 15, 2011. Each chance is $5.00 or 5 chances for $20.00. The winner must be 21 years of age and if asked, must supply a valid ID. This donation was to be in the Silent Auction at the picnic but because the Silent Auction was not permitted under Baltimore County Public School policy, the RFC, Inc. has to do it this way and was given permission to raffle of the crate by Wells.
